From Camden to the world, Desta French makes music without boarders. Growing up in London’s bohemian North West, raised by parents of Italian and Colombian descent, her soulful brand of R&B takes you back to the genre’s golden era – fusing latino grooves with her own unique attitude.
With only a few releases to her name to date, she tells COLORS that she looks for ‘Melodies which fall from the sky only,’ and such is apparent with her performance of ‘Shame’. Swaying to the throwback beat, channeling the great Sade, Desta spins a tale of bittersweet recollection. Armed with a beautifully lazy piano roll, and an effortlessly soulful vocal performance, ‘Shame’ is one to go right to the top of your early summer playlist – and, if you haven’t started this season’s curation, now’s the time to start.
